Stroboscopic test
One of the most important parameters of eye protection desk lamp is strobe. We all know that it is harmful to human eyes, which will increase our visual fatigue and even cause headaches in severe cases.
However, all lamps and lanterns may have “strobe” as long as they are turned on with alternating current. Therefore, to measure whether strobe is harmful depends on the frequency, as well as stroboscopic percentage and stroboscopic effect visualization parameter SVM.
Among them, regarding the stroboscopic frequency, according to the mark of IEEE, stroboscopic frequency higher than 3125Hz belongs to high stroboscopic frequency, which can be exempted from consideration. With regard to the stroboscopic percentage, according to the requirements of Chinese national standard GB/T-9473 2017 “Performance Requirements for Reading and Writing Desk Lamps” for strobe: the stroboscopic percentage is less than 3.2%, which has no significant influence; 3.2% < stroboscopic percentage < 8%, which is a low-risk area; stroboscopic percentage > 8%, which is a high-risk area. While SVM is a parameter to quantify stroboscopic effect, SVM<1, invisible strobe, SVM>1, visible strobe.
So how about the strobe performance of this desk lamp? We use a stroboscope to test it. According to the test, the stroboscopic frequency reaches 16211.4Hz, which belongs to high frequency strobe. According to the IEEE standard, it can be exempted from consideration and can be considered as no visible strobe. The fluctuation depth is 5.6%, which is is low risk according to the national standard ; SVM=0, which also shows that this table lamp has no visible strobe.
Illumination test
Illumination is also an important index to measure the quality of eye protection desk lamp. Illumination, also called illumination intensity, refers to the luminous flux of visible light received per unit area, which is used to indicate the intensity of illumination and the illumination degree of the surface area of an object, the unit is Lux or lx. Experiments show that, in the range of 300lx-500lx, users’ satisfaction will be significantly improved with the increase of illumination level.
According to the Chinese national standard GB/T 9473 2017 “Performance Requirements for Reading and Writing Desk Lamps“, the requirements of AA level illuminance are that the illuminance in the area cut off by the front sector with a radius of 50 cm from the center of the circle is above 250LX and the illuminance in the area within the third sector with a radius of 30 cm from the center of the circle is above 500LX. The illuminance uniformity refers to the ratio of the maximum illuminance to the minimum illuminance in the region. The closer the ratio is to 1, the more uniform the brightness of light in this area.AA uniformity shall be less than or equal to 3.
Then, can the eye protection desk lamp reach AA level illumination? We tested it with an illuminance meter according to the national standard.
It can be seen that the illumination of the eye protection desk lamp reaches 731lx at a distance of 300mm from the desk lamp. At 500mm, it reached 332lx. The uniformity is 2.56, which fully meets the AA level illumination of Chinese national standard.
Then we simply test the illuminance uniformity. Taking three points at random, we can see that the illuminance is around 820 and the ratio is less than 3, which is also in line with the national standard AA level.
Other tests
The light of the eye protection desk lamp is warm and looks very soft.The color temperature of the light is about 4000K.
Eye protection desk lamp also supports nitecore extreme. You can freely adjust the light brightness by turning the bottom knob left and right. We can see that as the knob turns, the lamp light will change evenly.
