Insulation Cup Evaluation,Intuitive Temperature Change

Today, we want to carry out a freezing challenge: selected 8 insulation cups between the price of 6-70USD , all were stuffed into only 2 degrees Celsius refrigerator for evaluation (the picture got more than one insulation pot, not in the scope of this review). So what is the difference in function between them with the price difference? Can carry the extreme freezing challenge? The more expensive the better, cheap is no good?

These 8 insulation cups are selected from the more well-known brands in the industry, some represent the insulation cups in the grocery store; some are custom class insulation cups. They all different characteristics and representation. Then, insulation cup evaluation is about to begin. In order to simulate the consumer’s daily drinking habits, every 1-2 hours, we will record the actual temperature of these 8 insulation cups, respectively, to see how effective they are in each stage of insulation.

Before starting, we recorded the initial temperature. The 8 thermoses were then stuffed into a refrigerator with only 2°C. After one and a half hours, we recorded the corresponding temperatures, and the temperature changes were as follows.

1.5 hours temperature change

In this 1.5 hours, we saw the cheapest insulated cup, the temperature dropped the fastest, by a total of 10°C. Basically, as the price increases, the temperature drops more slowly.


After another 3 hours, at this point we took all the insulation cups out of the refrigerator, and again recorded the temperature of each insulation cup, the temperature data are as follows.

3 hours temperature change

In terms of the temperature change, the temperature of each thermal mug has dropped, but the temperature drop ranking of thermal mugs are basically more stable. In the insulation cup inside, the most expensive 67.2SUD insulation effect is the best, 3 hours temperature drop of 11.6 ℃. 50USD insulation effect and 67.2SUD insulation cup is very close, the two only 0.2 ℃ temperature difference. 46.91SUD’s also only 12.2 ℃ drop.


The temperature changes after the next 6 hours were as follows.

6 hours temperature change

In the six hours of extreme freezing challenge, the longer the time, the insulation effect of these eight insulation cups began to change with the first 3 hours. 50USD insulation performance is still the best. From the insulation effect of the cup alone, 6-7 the three models of the overall performance is the most stable.


10 hours finally passed, we took out all 8 insulation cups. In the long 10 hours 2 ℃ extreme freezing challenge, the measured water temperatures of the last eight thermos cups are as follows:

One of the biggest temperature changes was the 6.3USD grocery store insulated mug, which saw a 44°C temperature drop. But the 12.4USD thermos, the temperature change was not small either. The third and fourth models, the seventh and eighth models, the temperature change of these two groups was basically the same. In fact, if the data is more accurate, the capacity of the insulation cup should be consistent, and to unify has been used time. Because the new and old insulation cup will likewise affect its insulation effect.

So, 45-65USD insulation cups, insulation effect will be more obvious. But 12-32USD insulation cups, the difference between them insulation effect is not particularly large. The reason why the insulation cup can keep warm is because the cup body is generally made of ceramic or stainless steel plus vacuum layer, the vacuum insulation layer can make the water and other liquids installed in the internal delayed heat dissipation, in order to achieve the purpose of insulation.


Make tea? Fill with hot milk? Wrong!

Consumers in the purchase of insulation cup, the main thing is still concerned about its performance: insulation effect. But this often makes many people ignore the other very important things of the insulation cup . For example, how to use a good insulation cup .

The thermos has been around for over a hundred years. And drinking hot water is a matter of faith in China. We take tea as an example, insulation cup can indeed be kept at a high temperature for a long time. But if you use the insulation cup to make tea, tea leaves are smothering under the high temperature in a long time, the taste and nutrition of tea leaves will change greatly. For example, if the tea broth is kept in a thermos for a long time, the color of the tea broth will turn dark yellow and the taste of the tea will be more bitter and astringent. Some of the active substances inside the tea, such as vitamins, will drop drastically.

So in winter, if you want to drink a cup of hot milk as you like, is the insulation cup reliable? In fact, as long as it is 12 hours of time, the use of insulation cup is possible, but in this process, although safe, but the nutritional value of milk in a long time under high temperature state will be reduced very quickly. And if more than 12 hours,insulation cup filled with hot milk is easy to breed bacteria. Once the bacteria breeds, it will proliferate at a very fast rate, so we also do not recommend that you use the insulation cup for a long time to store hot milk.
