Label Inspection

Label Inspection,Ensure Consistency

As we all know, a product must be sold with a product label, which plays a vital role in the process of product sales.   label inspection  is effectively avoid the label problems occur.

The first, the function of marking& labeling is convenient for consumers to find, identify and prevent misuse and mixing.

The second is to be able to provide basic information of goods about importers and retailers, such as product name, specifications, instructions for use, sellers’ brands, etc.

The third is the role of safety warning. Some special products have potential safety hazards when they are used. Labels can explain the use method and applicable environment of the products and avoid the occurrence of dangerous situations.

How To Perform Label Inspection

In the trade agreement, both sides of the trade will surely involve the content standards and regulations for product labels, including the types of labels.  The types of labels can be roughly divided into adhesive sticker type and paper tag type according to the placement mode between the labels and products.  Although the two kinds of labels have the same function, they are varied in material selection, so it is essential to compare and check the materials of the labels during label inspection.

In addition to the content information and material inspection of labels, the key points of label inspection are:

  1. Whether the appearance is neat or not;
  2. Color difference or not;
  3. Whether the pasting or placing position is correct;
  4. Whether the bar code is correctly identified;
  5. Size;
  6. Ink adhesion;
  7. Whether the self-adhesive peeling is smooth;
  8. Adhesion test of adhesive tape;
  9. …   …

Label inspection is an important item for quality inspection,   third – party inspection agencies will objectively reflect the above problems in the  inspection report , so importers can see the problems in time, make corrective actions in advance and reduce losses before shipment.

For example, factories generally do not produce labels on their own, but only pass the international importers’ requirements on marking, labeling and relative standards to the label making factories. Such factories often small ones.  Finished labels are transported to the product assembly line. After simple label inspection,  workers put labels onto products manually. In the process, factories have to encounter many human and environmental factors, such as scratches in handling, skewed labeling position or ink separation on the label product surface due to moisture in the air, and vague information.

Why The Label Inspection Is Necessary?

In the actual case of CQI, a trading company has cooperated with the importer many times, and the supplier will prepare extra labels in advance.  In case that the trading company’s factory takes a new order, it usually uses the stock labels for the new order products, without paying attention to the importer’s new label content requirements. In addition, because the labels are stored for too long, there will be problems such as label adhesion degradation, easy peeling off, ink fading and so on.  What’s worse in the case, the factory has not passed bylabel inspection  After receiving the goods at the destination port, the importer’s customers found the problem and had to organize manpower and material resources to carry out large-scale rework on labeling, which caused huge losses to the importer.

Ignoring label inspection  is a bad habit in factories, causing both sides of the trade to pay for such low-level mistakes, so third-party inspection services are needed to avoid risks and reduce losses.  Importers definitely benefits from outsourcing inspection, for more information please read  advantage of outsourcing inspection.
