Analysis on China Lingerie Industry Clusters

In recent years, the advantages of underwear cluster production, which enjoys the advantages of industrial chain cooperation, supply chain system and large-scale distribution, have become increasingly prominent. The top ten underwear industry clusters, such as Shenzhen, Yanbu and Zhongshan, have become the leading teams in the development of China’s underwear industry.

In 2019, China has opened the China Lingerie Culture Week and SIUF China (Shenzhen) International Brand Lingerie Exhibition in Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, in line with the current trend of lingerie industry cluster production, once again expanding the scale of industry cluster exhibition, covering the top ten lingerie industry clusters, and with a total of nearly 900 exhibitors, 73,000 square meters of exhibition area, becoming a very representative of the industry and the largest annual professional exhibition of the lingerie industry in China and even internationally.

China Lingerie Industry Clusters-Shenzhen

With the improvement of production level and the rise of independent brands, “Shenzhen lingerie” has become an important city card of Shenzhen, China. According to statistics, by 2016, the output value of Shenzhen’s lingerie industry grew from 5 billion yuan 10 years ago to 45 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of more than 20%.

Previously, Shenzhen lingerie industry leaders such as Embry, Urban Beauty, Jenny Wei and Chundu joined hands to showcase their products, including Embry’s exclusive exhibition area and immersive art museum, which mobilised visitors’ multiple senses to experience Embry’s romantic interpretation of femininity.

Yanbu lingerie industry cluster has more than 500 lingerie production and related affiliated enterprises, with more than 50,000 people engaged in the lingerie industry. With an annual production of more than 50 million dozens of lingerie and more than 200 independent brands, it holds an important share in the sales of lingerie in mainland China, especially in the sales of second-tier brands.

As an important part of the industry cluster at SIUF for many years, well-known companies such as Orinon, Xinyi and Zidu have used SIUF for many years as an important platform for product launches, brand displays and upstream and downstream cooperation talks, and also to usher in a larger and more exciting display of the industry cluster in Yanbu.

China Lingerie Industry Clusters-Zhongshan

The lingerie industry is one of the regional specialities of Xiaolan and even Zhongshan. Xiaolan has a population of 320,000, with 40,000 people engaged in the lingerie industry. At present, there are 1,861 textile and garment and supporting enterprises in the town, of which, 176 are above the scale and have more than 100 well-known brands in lingerie.

The 2019 SIUF Zhongshan Lingerie Industry Cluster exhibition area has increased by more than 1,000 square metres or 35% compared to previous years, while the percentage of ODM type companies exhibiting has increased to fully demonstrate the region’s leading R&D and original design capabilities.

Chaoshan’s lingerie is characterised by low prices, flexible marketing, fast circulation and a complete industrial chain. The number of lingerie enterprises is said to be more than 2,000, and such a large lingerie cluster is a unique phenomenon in the world.

As a famous “fast fashion garment city” at home and abroad, Puning lingerie occupies half of the textile and garment industry in Puning, and has formed a modern industrial chain with a high degree of concentration, a perfect market and complete support in recent years.

In the section of representative exhibitors, for example, Osilandi, which has been cultivating the industry for more than 20 years, has followed up on the market changes in recent years and adjusted its industrial output quickly, upgrading its brand while cooperating with new retail and developing new channels.

Changle: four advantages of leading textile and lace industry clusters

As the “Textile Industry Base City of China”, Changle is a national-level textile industry base city, a model textile industry cluster and a demonstration area for the innovative development of textile industry clusters, as well as one of the 12 over 100 billion yuan industry clusters and the most important support area for the development of the textile industry in Fujian Province.

Relying on industrial advantages, transportation advantages, capital advantages and location advantages, Changle textile industry and lace industry has become a leading industrial cluster in China. Among them, the existing above-scale lace enterprises reached 75, with an output value of 11.5 billion yuan in 2015.
